Blasius II. Münzer (* 1572 in Gutmadingen on the Baar ; † September 10, 1638 in Klingnau ) was abbot of the St. Blasien monastery in the southern Black Forest and landgrave of the Bonndorf rule in the Black Forest .

Life

As the successor to Abbot Martin Meister I , Blasius II. Münzer was elected 37th Abbot of the St. Blasien Monastery in 1625. Politically, as abbot and landgrave, he could only set a few accents, since after France entered the war and the arrival of Swedish troops under Gustaf Horn , he had to retreat to the Blasian provosts of Klingnau and Wislikofen on Swiss territory .

Blasius II had the Wislikofen priory located east of Zurzach expanded between 1635 and 1638 for a longer stay. He himself died in 1638 at the age of 76 while visiting the Blasian provost in Klingnau. According to his last will, he was buried under the high altar of the provost church in Wislikofen, which he had renovated. Its epitaph has been preserved and has been installed in the cloister of the provost's office since 1976.
