The Blauer und Goldener Stern building is a residential and commercial building in downtown Leipzig , Hainstrasse 14. A passage leads through the house and its courtyard to the house at Katharinenstrasse 17, which bears the name Kretschmanns Hof . The blue and gold star is a listed building .

history

As early as 1586, on the property at Hainstrasse 14, an inn Zum Blaue Stern is known, the name of which became the current one in 1819 through various variations. The house in its current form was built around 1840 according to plans by Albert Geutebrück .

The building was renovated after German reunification . At the beginning of the 1990s, the Blue and Golden Star was temporarily part of the property in Leipzig owned by the building contractor Jürgen Schneider .

The courtyard area

The overall property is a narrow four-wing complex with a courtyard that is slightly angled towards the course of the street. The front building has three upper floors above the mezzanine floor, which is optically connected to the ground floor. The street front is designed in a late classical style. It is structured on the upper floors by pilasters . Strong consoles support the wide eaves cornice . The Berlin roof has five dormers and a row of skylights above. The name of the house is represented by a blue and a gold star on the balcony railing on the first floor.

The buildings around the courtyard are five storeys high. Facing the courtyard, the mezzanine floor of the front building shows four cast iron columns that date from the 19th century.
