IC 2456 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Lynx in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 314 million light years from the Milky Way and about 50,000 light years across .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 2793 , NGC 2823 , IC 2459 , IC 2460 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on April 25, 1903 .
