NGC 2804 = IC 2455 is a lens-shaped galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Cancer on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 372 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 155,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 2801 , NGC 2807 , NGC 2809 , IC 2457 .
The object was discovered on February 24, 1827 by the astronomer John Herschel and registered as NGC 2804. It was rediscovered on April 9, 1896 by Stéphane Javelle and listed as IC 2455.
