IC 2458 (also NGC 2820A ) is a lens-shaped dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Ursa Major in the northern sky . It is an estimated 72 million light years from the Milky Way and about 10,000 light years in diameter. Together with NGC 2805 , NGC 2814 and NGC 2820 , it forms the interactive galaxy quartet Holm 124 .
The type II supernova SN 1998bm was observed here.
The property was discovered by Guillaume Bigourdan in 1899 .
