Bleach privilege

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The bleaching privilege was a privilege issued on December 14, 1357 by Margrave Friedrich III von Meißen to establish the state of bleaching on the banks of the Chemnitz River . This is considered the prerequisite for the development of textile production in Chemnitz . On May 30, 1451 , Elector Friedrich II changed it to the Chemnitz bleaching order . The export of unbleached textiles (including yarns and cloths) was forbidden. In addition, the export of flax, yarn and unbleached linen from the Meissnian area was banned. For the margraviate of Meißen , a bleaching facility was set up on a meadow plot of around three to four hectares on the Chemnitz River north of the city, which provided the conditions for taking a central position in the system of textile production and trade.
