The residential building Bleichstrasse 8 is in Mönchengladbach ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

The house was built in 1924. It was entered under No. B 164 on October 30, 2001 in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach .

architecture

At the foot of the historic town center (Abteiberg) near the Geroweiher, the three-storey residential building stands under a gable roof in a striking street corner. The exterior plaster on the ground floor has been redesigned to simplify matters by eliminating horizontal plaster strips. The windows were unsuitable in plastic, on the ground floor and first floor with lower lights, renewed. The window openings are framed by plaster, the staircase windows are emphasized by surrounding plaster framing with window grilles.

The inside of the object is completely original. In addition to the stairwells with hexagonal red floor tiles, terrazzo steps and the flights of stairs with turned wooden railings and carved entry posts, all apartment entrance doors and apartment interior doors have been preserved. The floor plans of the apartments have also been preserved unchanged . In the living room and bedroom, the ceilings are characterized by narrow but high joists that penetrate at right angles in the corners of the room or joists that cite the historical shape of the Rhenish clay beam ceiling ("Cologne ceiling").

The house forms an optical unit with the neighboring house, which is also listed, Lüpertzender Strasse 16/18 .
