IC 7 is an isolated elliptical galaxy from the Hubble type E in the constellation fish on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 246 million light years from the Milky Way and about 50,000 light years across .
The galaxies NGC 63 and NGC 95 are in the same region of the sky .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on November 28, 1893 .
The "IC" in one of the catalog names described above stands for the index catalog , an astronomical catalog of galactic nebulae , star clusters and galaxies published at the end of the 19th / beginning of the 20th century .
