IC 9 is an active spiral galaxy with extensive star formation from Hubble type Sb in the constellation Cetus south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 563 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 65,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky is the galaxy NGC 62 , among others .
The property was built on August 23, 1892 by Stéphane Javelle .
