IC 8 is a spiral galaxy from the Hubble type Sc in the constellation fish on the ecliptic . It is around 272 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 55,000 light years .
The object was discovered on September 23, 1867 by Truman Henry Safford .
