IC 23 is an elliptical galaxy from the Hubble type E0 in the constellation Cetus south of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 277 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 55,000 light years in diameter.

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 135 , IC 16 , IC 20 .

The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on November 2, 1891 .
