IC 32 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type S in the constellation Whale in the southern sky . It is around 742 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 105,000 light years .
Because of their nearly identical distance and direction, IC 32 and IC 33 could be a gravitationally bound pair .
The object was discovered on November 6, 1891 by Stéphane Javelle .
