IC 43 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sc in the constellation Andromeda on the northern sky . It is an estimated 224 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 105,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies NGC 183 , NGC 184 , NGC 233 , NGC 243 are located in the same area of the sky .
The supernovae SN 1973U (Type-II) and SN 2015ag (Type-Ic) were observed here.
The object was discovered on November 15, 1889 by Guillaume Bigourdan .
