IC 53 is a lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is about 531 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 80,000 light years in diameter .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on September 25, 1890 .
