Blepharostomataceae are a moss family from the class of the Jungermanniopsida . These plants belong to the leafy liverwort .
description
The plants in this family are small, light green to yellowish green, usually creeping and without stoloniform shoots. The flank leaves are down to the base (two) three to four lobes, the lobes are thread-shaped and single-row. Sub-leaves are similar but slightly smaller. The species are diocesan or autocratic. Perianthia are inflated and have a ciliate mouth. Asexual reproduction occurs with single-celled brood bodies . The species grow on earth, rock and often on rotten wood.
Systematics
The family includes only one genus Blepharostoma with three species, with only the species Blepharostoma trichophyllum occurring in Europe .
