Blidö

Blidö is an island in Blidö socken in Norrtälje kommun , Stockholms Lan in the Stockholm archipelago .

There is a bus connection to Blidö and the neighboring island of Yxlan that departs from Norrtälje and a ferry line that runs from Furusund . The shipping company Waxholmsbolaget calls at Blidö with the ships Blidösund , Sjögull and Sjöbris . The island has no bridge to the mainland, only a car ferry. This runs between Furusund (where there is a bridge to the mainland) and Köpmanholm (Yxlan) and between Larshamn (Yxlan) and Norrsund (Blidö).

Blidö Church is in the middle of the island. It was built in 1859. The building was a set in the 1965 film The Troll Child ( Tjorven och Skrållan ). It was the church where Malin and Peter were married.

The artist Rune Jansson was born on Blidö. Ture Nerman had his summer home here in the 1950s and Tove Jansson spent her childhood summers here.
