history

2000-2002: Stigmata

Blinded Colony was founded in January 2000 by guitarists Johan Blomstrom and Tobias Olsson and singer Niklas Svensson. At that time the band was known as "Stigmata". In June 2000 the band recorded their first demo called Painreceiver . In addition, two new band members, Christoffer Nilsson (drums) and Annika Haptén (vocals), were added. Shortly thereafter, Staffan Franzén was recruited as a bass player. After finishing the Painreceiver album, the band played concerts in Sweden, but these were moderate and they agreed on a short break. Six months later, drummer Christoffer Nilsson left the band. Staffan then decided to take over the part as drummer. Shortly after Christoffer's departure, Johan and Tobias started playing again and found a suitable bass player, Roy Erlandsson. After the reorganization, Annika Haptén left the band due to differences in music. In 2002 the second demo, Tribute To Chaos , was released. Tribute to Chaos caught the attention of the Italian record company Scarlet Records . In accordance with the new contract, the band officially changed their name to Blinded Colony.

2003-2006: Divine and Scarlet Records

Blinded Colony's debut album Divine was self-produced and finally released in Europe in 2003 by Scarlet Records. In Japan this was done through Soundholic Records. Blinded Colony and Scarlet Records soon went their separate ways. Shortly thereafter, founding member Niklas Svensson left the band and Johan Schuster replaced him.

2007 – present: Bedtime Prayers and Pivotal Rockordings

The band recorded the promo demo in 2005 and released it in early April 2005. The demo caught the attention of the Pivotal Rockordings label.

After reaching an agreement with Pivotal Rockordings, Blinded Colony began recording their second studio album, Bedtime Prayers, in the spring of 2006 . Again the album was produced in their home studio "Soundpalace". Bedtime Prayers has been warmly received in metal circles and compared to works by bands like In Flames and Soilwork .

In 2007 Blinded Colony was on the "Outcasts Over Europe" tour as the opening act for Ektomorf and Kayser . They also shared the stage with well-known bands such as former Pivotal Rockording label mates Sonic Syndicate and Dark Tranquility . The band also played at several festivals in 2007. In August 2007 it was announced that singer Johan Schuster and bassist Roy Erlandsson would be replaced by Denny Axelsson and Jeoan Olsson. They were professional differences in a broader sense. After a quiet winter in which the band continued to record, Johan Blomström switched from guitar to bass and the band got a guitarist in Martin Bergman to fill the gap. In October 2008 Denny Axelsson left the band and led them into another upheaval. Although Pivotal Rockordings never issued a press release about the band's quitting, the band is apparently out of contract and is currently producing new material for the third album. Apparently the band broke up and immediately re-established as The Blinded. To this end, they published a promo EP on their homepage.
