Blood-C: The Last Dark (2012)

Blood-C is a manga series and anime television series from 2011. Both works are loosely linked to Blood - The Last Vampire from 2000 and Blood + from 2005/6 and can be classified into the genres of horror , mystery , drama and action. The concept of both works comes from the artist group Clamp .

content

The friendly and clumsy girl Saya Kisaragi ( 更衣 小 夜 ) lives with her father in the shrine of a small town. She was also trained in the art of sword fighting, which she will soon have to use at night against ghost beings that attack the place. This is how she should protect her family and friends, especially her good friend Fumito Nanahara ( 七 原 文人 ). But this soon turns out to be a test to put her good heart and courage to the test.

Manga

The series created by Ranmaru Kotone and Clamp was published from issue 7/2011 (May 26, 2011) to 10/2012 (August 25, 2012) in Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine . The Kadokawa Shoten publishing house also publishes the chapters in four edited volumes.

An English translation of the work is published by Dark Horse Comics , and Norma Editorial is publishing a Spanish translation . A German version was published by Kazé Germany from April to October 2013 .

In addition, the manga Blood-C: Izayoi Kitan (BLOOD-C 十六 夜 鬼 譚 ) by Ryō Hazuki appeared in Newtype Ace from issue 1/2011 (September 10, 2011) to 9/2012 (May 10, 2012) . The chapters were summarized in two anthologies and also appeared in German by Kazé in 2013 and 2014.

Novels

Jun'ichi Fujisaku adapted the work into two novels published by Kadokawa's horror novel imprint Kadokawa Horror Bunko : Blood-C ( ISBN 978-4-04-394477-4 ) on October 4, 2011 for the television series and Blood-C: The Last Dark ( ISBN 978-4-04-100300-8 ) on June 2, 2012 for the movie.

Television series

Parallel to the creation of the manga, an anime series with twelve episodes was produced in 2011 at Production IG . Here, led by Tsutomu Mizushima Director and artistic director was Hiromasa Ogura . The scripts for the episodes were written by Jun'ichi Fujisaku and Nanase Ōkawa.

The first broadcast took place from July 8th to September 30th 2011 shortly after midnight (and thus on the previous television day ) on MBS , from July 9th also on TBS and from July 13th on CBC . English translations appeared in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom and were greeted by Nico Nico via streaming offered. A Spanish and a Chinese version have also been published. The series was released in German from August 2012 to February 2013 on Animaze on Blu-ray and DVD .

The music for the series was composed by Naoki Sato . The song Spiral by DUSTZ was used for the opening credits . The credits were underlaid with Junketsu Paradox by Nana Mizuki.

Motion picture

On May 21, 2012, the movie Blood-C: The Last Dark for manga and anime came out in Japan . The film, like the television series, was directed by Naoyoshi Shiotani at Production IG . It was released in Germany in October 2013 by MAD Dimension on Blu-ray and DVD.

From July 2 to July 5, 2015, the theater show Blood C - The Last Mind was staged in Japan . Miyahara Hana-on played the main character Saya Kisaragi in the theater adaptation . The director was Tsutomu Mizushima .
