Flower parade 1951

The flower parade on August 5, 1951 was the highlight of the first Federal Garden Show , which took place in Hanover from April 28 to October 31, 1951. “With magnificently decorated flower wagons”, well over a hundred companies from the city of Hanover and the state of Lower Saxony as well as groups, associations and clubs took part in the parade. Around 400,000 spectators lined the path between Herrenhäuser Allee and the grounds of the Federal Horticultural Show in Hannover City Park . While the city was still largely in ruins after the air raids on Hanover in World War II , the "colorful event in the busy construction years ... gave a perspective of hope."
