The Blunt Cove is a side bay of Vincennes Bay in the area of the Knox coast of the East Antarctic Wilkesland .
The American cartographer Gardner Dean Blodgett (* 1925) mapped them using aerial photographs of Operation Highjump (1946–1947). The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them in 1955 after Simon Fraser Blunt (1818-1854), midshipman on the USS Vincennes in the United States Exploring Expedition (1838-1842) under the direction of the US polar explorer Charles Wilkes .
