Victoria is a British history series written by Daisy Goodwin . The series was announced in September 2015 when Jenna Coleman decided to leave Doctor Who to take on her role as Queen Victoria .
The eight-part first season of Victoria was shown on ITV from August 28 to October 9, 2016 . The second season ran in the United Kingdom from August 27 to October 15, 2017. There was also a Christmas special on December 25, 2017. A third season was announced in December 2017 and will be broadcast weekly from January 13, 2019. In Germany, the first season was broadcast on Pay TV on Sky 1 at Christmas 2016 , and season two was shown from December 25 to 29, 2017.
action
The first season portrays the first years of Queen Victoria's reign from her coronation at the age of 18 to her intense friendship with Lord Melbourne and her wedding to Prince Albert to the birth of her first daughter, Victoria .
Season two is about Victoria's struggle to master her roles as queen, wife and mother.
The third season deals with the marriage difficulties of Victoria and Albert, as well as with the relationship Victoria with her sister Feodora and the foreign minister Lord Palmerston. The season ends with the World Exhibition of 1851 organized by Prince Albert .
Cast and dubbing
The German synchronization is created for a dialogue book by Joachim Kunz village and under the dialogue director Gerd Naumann by the synchronous company Interopa film .
production
filming
Most of Victoria’s exterior shots were filmed in Yorkshire . The interiors of Castle Howard were depicted as Kensington Palace , Harewood House as Buckingham Palace , and Bramham Park and Wentworth Woodhouse were used for both. Carlton Towers is used as Windsor Castle while Beverley Minster represents Westminster Abbey . Other filming locations include Wentworth Woodhouse, Allerton Castle , Newby Hall and Whitby pier . Church Fenton Studios, a converted aircraft hangar near Selby , was used to display some of the interiors of Buckingham Palace.
development
According to a speech by Daisy Goodwin in October 2016, a Christmas special was proposed for 2016, but this was rejected by ITV, but as Victoria's popularity has been proven by the audience figures , there will likely be a Christmas special in 2017.
In September 2016, a second season of Victoria and a Christmas special for 2017 were confirmed, both of which will be shown in 2017. According to the ITV, a total of six seasons will be produced, but the leading actress will probably be replaced for the later seasons.
music
The title song was written by Martin Phipps and interpreted by the Mediæval Bæbes . Phipps also wrote and directed the music for the first few episodes. Ruth Barrett did this for the later episodes.
