Charlotte Anne Montagu-Douglas-Scott, Duchess of Buccleuch , née Lady Charlotte Thynne (born April 10, 1811 at Longleat House , Wiltshire , † March 18, 1895 at Ditton Park Castle , Buckinghamshire ) was the wife of Walter Montagu-Douglas-Scott , 5th Duke of Buccleuch, 7th Duke of Queensberry .

Life

Charlotte was the third daughter of Thomas Thynne, 2nd Marquess of Bath (1765-1837) and the Hon. Isabella Elizabeth Byng (1773-1830). She married on August 13, 1829 in St. George's Church in Hanover Square in the City of Westminster ( London ) Walter Montagu-Douglas-Scott, 5th Duke of Buccleuch, 7th Duke of Queensberry (1806-1884), the eldest surviving son of Charles Montagu-Scott, 4th Duke of Buccleuch, 6th Duke of Queensberry (1772–1819) and the Hon. Harriet Katherine Townshend. She served as Mistress of the Robes with Queen Victoria from September 1841 to July 1846 . The Queen gave her the Royal Order of Victoria and Albert Third Class for her services . After waiting for more than ten years, she was allowed to convert to the Roman Catholic Church in 1860.

She was buried in St. Mary's Chapel in Dalkeith (Midlothian, Scotland).
