Rowan David Oakes (born October 14, 1983 in Hampshire , England ) is a British actor and theater director.

Life

David Oakes studied drama and English at Manchester University and attended the Bristol Old Vic Theater School from 2005 to 2007 . His father is a Canon of the Church of England .

Oakes began his career on stage at the Globe Theater and has been an active theater actor ever since. He had his first television role in the BBC series Bonekickers . He also played in the 2009 ITV series Trinity and the documentary series Mind of a Tyrant , which uncovered the truth about Henry VIII .

In 2010 he was seen in the lavish multi-part television series The Pillars of the Earth in the role of villain William Hamleigh . 2011 he played in the television production The Borgias to Juan Borgia .
