The Crimson neck Bock ( Anastrangalia sanguinolenta , Syn. : Leptura sanguinolenta ) is a beetle from the family of longhorn beetles (Cerambycidae).

features

The beetles are 9 to 11 millimeters long. You have a black body. In the male, the wing covers are yellow-brown and have a weak sheen, in the female they are red and dull. They have a black tip on the end. The yellow-haired pronotum is about as long as it is wide, has a clear impression at the base and has no center line. The elytra are finely dotted and hairy black.

Similar species

In the two similar species, the pronotum is much longer than it is wide and has a clear center line. The wing cover seam is often darker in color.

Occurrence

They occur mainly in the mountains in coniferous forests , mixed coniferous forests and on alpine and mountain meadows. Their distribution extends across Europe , the Caucasus , Transcaucasia and Western Siberia to Lake Baikal . In Europe the species is widespread as far as northern Fennoscandia ; in England and Scotland the beetles are rarely found.

Way of life

The larvae live in dead conifers, especially in spruce and fir trees , on whose wood they feed.
