When Ricky, a farm boy, and Lila, a girl who, like Ricky, has Down's syndrome and lives in a home for young people with disabilities, meet each other immediately. A community picnic deepens their feelings for one another so that they dream of being in a relationship with each other. Well-meaning fellow human beings, who in their own opinion mean well with them, prevent them from doing so, and the circumstances also help prevent this from happening.

criticism

The DVD case for the film contains an editorial review that speaks of a “sensitive short story”, in which Richard Goss and Laura Jean Ellis touchingly delivered a convincing performance that is reinforced by a sensitively controlled camera, making a tender statement conveyed through the mentally handicapped. The film's two Down Syndrome stars would give the story a poignant relevance that no professional actor could match. It goes on to say that using the medium of dramatic fiction, film raises important questions about the rights of mentally handicapped individuals, their need for emotional and romantic relationships, and their role in our society.
