Robert Walkinshaw "Bob" Harley (born September 8, 1888 in Renfrew , Scotland, † June 26, 1958 in Winnipeg , Manitoba ) was an active soccer player in Canada .
Career
Harley was a member of the Glasgow Rangers as a teenager and emigrated to Canada in 1911. With the outbreak of the First World War he served in Europe and suffered a serious leg injury in 1916. Awarded for bravery , he then spent a year and a half in an army hospital in Winnipeg to recover from his injury.
In 1921 he played for the Manitoba and Winnipeg selections when a Scottish Federation selection was present in Canada. In 1924 he was the captain of the Canadian national team on an international trip to Australia lasting several months . He came to six missions against the Australian national team and also played in New Zealand against a selection team from Auckland . At the club level, he was the captain of United Weston , but was not part of the final squad in 1924 or 1926 when Weston won the national championship.
In 2003 he was inducted into the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame .
