Bob Houbregs (born March 12, 1932 in Vancouver , British Columbia - † May 28, 2014 ) was a Canadian basketball player .
Career
Houbregs began his career in college basketball for the University of Washington . 1951 to 1953 he led the team to three titles in the Pacific Coast Conference . In 1952 he was elected to the NCAA All-American Second Team, 1953 to the All-American First Team. He signed up for the 1953 NBA draft , in which the Milwaukee Hawks selected him second. At the end of November 1953 he was transferred to the Baltimore Bullets in exchange for Max Zaslofsky . A year later, the Boston Celtics elected him in the Dispersal Draft that followed the dissolution of the Bullets . A month later, the Fort Wayne Pistons signed him . After the franchise moved to Detroit, he ended his NBA career there in 1958. In 1987 he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame .
