Robert Hosack Karch (* 4 July 1894 in Columbus , Ohio ; † 14. November 1958 in Bexley , Ohio) was an American American football - tacklers in the National Football League . He played for the Columbus Panhandles (1922) and the Louisville Brecks (1923). His college football team was at Ohio State University . He was selected for the College Football All-America team in 1916 by Frank G. Menke, former sports editor of the International News Service (INS). Karch suffered a heart attack in 1955 and shot himself dead in his Bexley, Ohio home in 1958.
