The Lemon Pipers were a US Psychedelic - band of the 1960s -years.

Band history

Green Tambourine , British plate design

They were initially founded under the name Ivan & the Sabers in Cincinnati / Ohio , USA . Their first single was released in 1967 and was a flop, but already the second record Green Tambourine , the song was written by Paul Leka and Shelley Pinz and produced by Paul Leka, became a million seller and evergreen . The single reached number 1 on the US singles charts, number 7 in Great Britain and number 10 in the German singles charts.

After that, the band released four more singles, but they didn't make it into the top 40 in any country. Given this unsuccessfulness, the band then fell apart. The group's organist, Bob Nave, died on January 28, 2020.

William Bartlett was part of the Ram Jam ( Black Betty ) formation in 1977 .
