Bob Symes

Bob Symes , actually Robert Alexander von Symes-Schutzmann , also Robert Alexander Baron Schutzmann von Schutzmansdorff (born May 6, 1924 in Vienna , † January 19, 2015 ) was a British inventor , journalist and railroad enthusiast with Austrian roots. His appearance on various television programs (such as the BBC science and technology show Tomorrow's World ) made him known to British television audiences.

He was able to make a name for himself through his journalistic activities, especially among railway fans. Since the reopening of a railway line in England in the 1970s, he was familiar to German-speaking audiences primarily through the production and moderation of the Bahnorama railway films and, along with Hagen von Ortloff , the moderator of the Eisenbahn-Romantik series , was one of the most prominent German-speaking TV Moderators in the railway sector.

Symes was involved in the Austrian-based Bahnorama manufacturer SH-Production Symes Schutzmann & Co KEG under commercial law. He died on January 19, 2015 at the age of 90 from complications from cancer.
