Bob Van Osdel
Bob Van Osdel ( Robert Logan Van Osdel ; born April 1, 1910 in Selma , California , † April 6, 1987 in West Hollywood ) was an American high jumper .
On March 22, 1930, he set a world high for the year with 2.013 m in Los Angeles .
In 1932 he became US champion. Like three other athletes, he crossed 1.97 m at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles . In the jump-off he then won the silver medal behind the Canadian Duncan McNaughton and in front of the Filipino Simeon Toribio .
Bob Van Osdel graduated from the University of Southern California and practiced as a dentist after his athletic career .
