Bobby Gimby (born October 24, 1918 in Cabri , Saskatchewan , † June 20, 1998 in North Bay , Ontario ) was a Canadian band leader, trumpeter and songwriter.

Gimby played the trumpet since childhood and performed with various bands until he formed his own band in Toronto in the mid-1940s. From 1949 he had his own program on the CBC , the Bobby Gimby Show . In the 1950s he was a frequent guest of The Happy Gang and musical director of the television show Juliette . To establish the Malaysian Federation in 1963, he composed Malaysia Forever , which became the country's unofficial anthem. His composition Canada became the most popular song of the centenary of Canada in 1967. For his contribution to the centenary he was named an officer of the Order of Canada .

In 1975 Gimby directed the Sing a Song music show on CTV ; In 1987 he founded Bobby Gimby Productions . He composed several songs with comedian Johnny Wayne , the most popular of which, The Cricket Song , and others. a. was recorded by Ray Bolger .
