Bobby Lowe (martial artist)

Edward "Bobby" Lowe (born August 23, 1929 ; † September 14, 2011 ) was an American-Chinese martial arts expert and pioneer of karate in the style of Kyôkushin (8th Dan) in Hawaii , USA .

Life

He was a pupil of James Masayoshi mitosis in the style of Kosho-ryû Kenpo before 1952 by Mas Oyama , the Kyokushin met. Lowe followed Ōyama to Japan, becoming his first foreign student and Ōyama's first Uchi-Deshi .

In 1957 Lowe opened the first Kyôkushin-dôjô outside of Japan in Hawaii and had been a Kyôkushin teacher there for over 50 years. Until his death, he was one of the highest-ranking representatives of the IKO1 , which emerged from Ōyamas International Karate Organization (IKO) under Akiyoshi Matsui's leadership . His students included u. a. Arthur Kôji Hisatake .
