The Bobo Ashanti (also Bobo Shanti ) are part (self-designation House or Mansion ) of the Rastafarian movement.

The Bobo Ashanti movement was founded in 1958 by Prince Emmanuel Charles Edwards, who by his followers as a black Christ ( black Christ is worshiped). The movement is mainly widespread in the Caribbean and Africa, with followers mainly in Jamaica , the Bahamas and Trinidad , but also in Ghana , Nigeria and Ethiopia . The followers strive to live their life according to the laws of Moses and the Old Testament , they keep the Sabbath , follow their own rules for nutrition and also set themselves apart from other Rastas outwardly, because their religious rules also affect the species to dress. For example, they wear the typical, tightly wound turbans in public to cover their dreads , and their wives should keep their arms and legs covered.

The most popular Bobo Ashanti representatives are mainly reggae and dancehall musicians, such as Anthony B. , Capleton , Sizzla , Lutan Fyah and Junior Reid .
