Lutan Fyah (actually: Anthony Martin ; * Saint Catherine Parish , Jamaica ) is a Jamaican reggae musician.

life and career

He spent his youth at Thomson Pen in St. Catherine. His grandfather operated a sound system and so Anthony Martin grew up in a musical environment. Well-known artists such as Lieutenant Stitchie , Papa San , Lady G and the legendary Dennis Brown were guests in his parents' house . Even as a teenager he aspired to a music career, but was also an ambitious football player. After graduating from St. Andrew Technical High School , he first became a professional footballer and played for Hazard United and Constant Spring FC in the National Premier League , the Jamaican first division, before giving up his midfielder career in 1999 in favor of music.

After a successful audition, Lutan Fyah worked more often with Buju Banton's music label Gargamel Records, recorded some songs there, but also worked independently with other producers. In 2001, while recording in the studio, he met Jah Mason , who offered Lutan Fyah to support him on his international tour. Through this collaboration, Lutan Fyah attracted attention in Jamaica and had first appearances in the USA and Europe. His first solo album, Dem No Know Demself , was released in 2004 on the Minor7Flat5 label. Other albums were Time and Place (2005) and Phantom War and Healthy Lifestyle (both 2006). His most successful songs include Rasta Still Deh Bout (with Josie Mel ), Save The Juvenile , St Jago De La Vega and Falling For You .

Lutan Fyah is not only a singer, he also plays various instruments ( guitar , keyboard, etc.) and writes most of his songs himself. His music is stylistically based on roots , he maintains his own singing and text style and limits himself - although he has been since the high school believer Bobo Ashanti Rasta is - lyrically not on spiritual and other typical reggae themes, but sings about everything that inspires him.
