Josie Mel (actually: Donald Burns Campbell ) is a Jamaican reggae musician.

life and career

Like many other Jamaican reggae singers, Josie Mel came to music in the church choir, where he had been training his singing talent since he was 10 years old.

After he had previously achieved a certain fame with a few singles and contributions to compilations , his debut album Freedom was released in 2003 on the Dutch label Walboomers Music. Most of the songs on the album, including Youth Fi Big , a collaboration with Capleton , were produced by Richard Bell and Maurice "Jack Scorpio" Johnson and were stylistically assigned to conscious dancehall . Well-known musicians who were involved included Sly & Robbie and Dean Frazer , among others .

Josie Mel already had success in the Jamaican charts with Rasta Still De 'Bout , a song recorded together with Lutan Fyah , when he released the album of the same name in 2005, which was released on Minor7Flat5. The classic roots reggae album Rasta Still De 'Bout was produced by Andreas "Brotherman" Christophersen and Lynford "Fatta" Marshall . In 2007, This Whole World was followed by the next album on Minor7Flat5, on which Lutan Fyah can be heard again on two songs together.
