Bobonong is a place in the Central District in Botswana .

geography

In 2011, Bobonong had 19,389 residents. At the 1981 census, only 4,711 people lived there. The place has several public buildings and is partly urban, partly rural.

The Motloutse , a left tributary of the Limpopo, flows through Bobonong . The area around Bobonong is flat and the climate is arid . Selebi-Phikwe is around 55 kilometers to the west. For the Zimbabwean border is about 40 kilometers to the South African border some 65 kilometers.

Bobonong is the administrative seat of the sub-district of the same name, which is also called Bobirwa Sub-District .

history

Bobonong is a traditional center of the Bahirwa, a subgroup of the Batswana .

Economy and Infrastructure

Roads lead from Bobonong to Selebi-Phikwe, Sefophe and Mabolwe and to the Zanzibar border crossing to South Africa .

Bobonong has a hospital with the Bobonong Primary Hospital . The primary schools are the Bobonong Primary School and the Mafetsakgang Primary School, and the Senior Secondary School is the Matshekga Hill School.
