Matthias Krenn (born January 29, 1960 in Villach ) is an Austrian politician ( FPÖ ) and entrepreneur .

Life

After completing compulsory school, Krenn attended the hotel management school in Villach. In 1980, he took over his parents' hotel and an agricultural business in Bad Kleinkirchheim .

politics

In 1985 he became a member of the Bad Kleinkirchheim council and two years later a member of the council. From June 1990 to June 1991 he was a member of the Federal Council , from 1991 to 1995 he was a member of the Carinthian state parliament in the 26th and 27th legislative period .

Krenn has been the mayor of Bad Kleinkirchheim since 1997.

Since 2000, Krenn, with 3-year hiatus from 2010 to 2013 Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce Austria , since 2014 Federal Chairman of the Freedom business Austria and since 1993 the State Chairman in Carinthia. Since 2010, Krenn has been a board member of the Main Association of Austrian Social Insurance Institutions .

On April 1, 2019, he became the first chairman of the newly founded Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK), and until the end of 2019 he is to head the transition committee in parallel to the existing bodies.
