Bodyslam is a rock band from Thailand . The band's last album to date was released in 2014 under the name Dharmajāti .

Band history

The band was founded under the name La-On ( Thai : ละ อ่อน ), which means something like "inexperienced". La-On, then with six band members, took part in a band competition for high school students in 1996. They reached first place in the competition, and the Music Bug label signed the band. In 1997 the first album was released with the title La-On . The most famous song on the album is Dai Rue Plao ( ได้ หรือ เปล่า ). In the same year the band made an appearance in the Thai soap opera Thep Niyai Nai Sano ( เทพนิยาย นาย เสนาะ ), on whose soundtrack they also participated. The album for the series was released in 1997.

After a long hiatus, they appeared back in public in 2002, albeit under the current name of Bodyslam. Only three of the previously six members were now there. The first album under the new name was called "Bodyslam" and was released in 2002, followed by "Drive" in 2003. With the album "Drive" they won the "Channel [V] Thailand Music Video Award" for the most popular group.

There were many changes within the band again after the next album. She left the Music Bug label and signed with the market leader GMM Grammy . Guitarist Ratthapol Pannachet left the band to start a solo career. Long-time drummer Suchuch Chaneed became an official member of the band and from then on also appeared in videos.

In April 2005 the third body slam album "Believe" was released. It made her one of the top acts on GMM Grammy. A long tour followed which lasted until 2005. They won the 4th Fat Award for Most Popular Album and Song of the Year Khwam Chuea ( ความ เชื่อ ).

In September 2007 the album "Save my Life" was released. The success of this album brought Bodyslam a larger fan base, making them one of the most popular rock bands in Thailand at the moment. In March 2008 they received the Season Award for the best rock group and for the best rock album. In addition, her song Ya pid was awarded as the best rock song .

On the penultimate album "Kraam" u. a. the title Kid hod ( คิด ฮอด ) included, which was created in collaboration with the Thai singer Siriporn Ampaipong (also Siriporn Umpaipong). This song combines elements of Mor Lam , a traditional music genre from northeast Thailand, with the band's rock music .
