In 2011 he was the first Ukrainian champion in the same weight class, where he was able to take revenge in the final against Alexander Kljutschko and beat this by breaking off in the 3rd round.

In 2013 he was used at the European Championships in Minsk . He benefited from the fact that his brother Taras, who started in the same weight class, had migrated to the professionals. In Minsk he defeated Adam Nolan from Ireland (3-0 RS) and Youba Ndiaye Sissocho , Spain (3-0 RS) on points, but lost in the semi-finals to Alexander Besputin from Russia on points (0-3 RS) and won one Bronze medal.
