Bogdan Volkov

Bogdan Volkov , Russian Богдан Волков , (born December 7, 1989 in Tores , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian - Russian opera singer ( tenor ) who belongs to the Bolshoi Young Ensemble .

Bogdan Volkov studied singing at the R. Glier Institute for Music in Kiev . In 2013 he finished his vocal training at the Tchaikovsky Music Academy of Ukraine. From 2013 to 2015 he was a member of the Young Artists Opera Program of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow . During this time he made his debut as Simpleton in Boris Godunow , as Mozart in Mozart and Salieri and as Wladimir in Prince Igor . In February 2014 he made his debut as Lykow in The Tsar's Bride , conducted by Gennady Roschdestvensky . This role took him with the Bolshoi Theater to the Theater an der Wien , the Hong Kong Arts Festival and the Lincoln Center Festival . In 2015 he received the 1st prize and the Audience Award of the Paris Opéra Compétition. In October of the same year, the tenor made his debut in the role of Lensky in Eugene Onegin in the production of Dmitri Tcherniakov at the Bolshoi Theater. From 2016 to 2018 he was an ensemble member at this house. In 2016 he received the 2nd prize at the Operalia Competition, the World Opera Competition in Guadalajara. Bogdan Volkov received the Onegin National Opera Award for roles in Weinberg's Der Idiot and Rimsky-Korsakov's Snowflake at the Bolshoi Theater. In July 2017 he sang Lenski at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence and at the Savonlinna Opera Festival . Other productions include The Tale of Tsar Saltan at the La Monnaie Opera House in Brussels and The Magic Flute at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles. He made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera New York in April 2018 as Tybalt in Charles Gounod's Roméo et Juliette .
