Bokaro Steel City is a city in the Indian state of Jharkhand .

The city of Bokaro Steel City (literally translated "Bokaro steel city") forms the administrative center of the Bokaro district in the east of Jharkhand at an altitude of 224  m . Bokaro Steel City is 90 km east-northeast of Ranchi , the capital of Jharkhand. The Garga River separates Bokaro Steel City from the neighboring city of Chas to the southeast . About 10 km north of Bokaro Steel City, the Damodar River flows in an easterly direction.

The steel factory Bokaro Steel Plant was built from 1965. At the 2011 census, Bokaro Steel City had 414,820 inhabitants.

On February 9, 2015, Bokaro Steel City was combined with Chas to form a municipal corporation . However, this was reversed.
