Bonaventure Shor
Bonaventura Schor (baptized July 12, 1624 in Innsbruck ; † January 1692 there ) was an Austrian painter.
Life
Bonaventura Schor was born as the third son of the painter Hans Schor in Innsbruck. Like his brothers Johann Paul and Egid , he went to Rome for training , where he can be traced back to 1658. From 1662 he lived in Innsbruck again. In June 1667 he married Elisabeth Hopfner, the couple had three sons.
Between 1662 and 1667 he created wall frescoes for the Stams monastery under the abbots Augustin I. Haas and Edmund Zoz , who became his sponsors . These represent the miracle of the cross of St. Bernhard von Clairvaux and the apparition of the Madonna to St. Bernhard and show his preference for architectural painting. Apart from these murals and smaller works for the Stams monastery, no other works are known, artistically Bonaventura was always in the shadow of his two brothers Johann Paul and Egid Schor.
