Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung (2017)

Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung (* 1977 in Yaoundé ) is an independent curator, art critic, author and biotechnologist of Cameroonian origin, who has lived mainly in Berlin since 1997 . He studied food biotechnology in Berlin, did his doctorate in medical biotechnology and then studied biophysics in Montpellier .

Ndikung is the artistic director of the art space SAVVY Contemporary in Berlin, which he founded in 2009. In 2015, Adam Szymczyk appointed Ndikung to the documenta 14 curator team as curator-at-large .

Ndikung is the project initiator and editor-in-chief of the SAVVY art.contemporary.african magazine , a bilingual e-journal for critical texts on contemporary African art .

As a curator, artistic director or consultant, he has worked for various international exhibition projects or festivals in Germany, France, England and Cameroon and has published more than 16 exhibition catalogs. He participated in projects of Tensta Konsthall in Sweden, the Goethe Institute , the Institute for Foreign Relations (ifa), the Kunstraum Kreuzberg / Bethanien and the Arsenal Berlin .

In December 2011 he curated the exhibition “Combler les lacunes de la mémoire: le passé composé du futur” at the Center Culturel Français in Algiers , Algeria. 2012 found u. a. Cooperations with the 7th Berlin Biennale and the Berlinische Galerie take place. As part of the Wiener Festwochen 2017 he curated The Conundrum of Imagination together with Pauline Doutreluingne . Together with Solvej Helweg Ovesen, he took over the artistic direction of the city gallery Wedding in Berlin from 2015 to 2018. He was curator-at-large for documenta 14 in Athens and Kassel and guest curator of the 2018 Dak'Art Biennale in Senegal. He is currently visiting professor for art theory and curatorial studies at the Städelschule in Frankfurt.

Together with the Miracle Workers Collective , he will curate the Finnish pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2019.

He was appointed artistic director of the 12th edition of the sonsbeek 2020 quadrennial.
