Boniface Negele

Bonifaz Negele (born August 21, 1607 in Wels ; † June 2, 1678 in Steinerkirchen an der Traun ) was a Benedictine and abbot of Kremsmünster Abbey .

Life

Negele made profession on April 13, 1625 and was ordained a priest on June 1, 1633. From 1639 to 1644 he was the 55th abbot of the Benedictine Abbey of Kremsmünster. During his tenure, the collegiate church got the current big bell, in 1639 the courtyard garden got the French layout, the so-called "mosque" and the glass houses. In 1678 he died in Steinerkirchen as a senior monastery.
