The Bonner Beach is a narrow and shallow stretch of beach on the south bank of the Larsen Harbor in the south east of South Georgia . The only colony of Weddell seals in South Georgia is located here.
This area was first mapped in 1927 as part of the British Discovery Investigations . The South Georgia Survey repeated this between 1951 and 1957. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the beach in 1957 after William Nigel Bonner (1928–1992), biologist of the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey , who between 1953 and 1955 in the Bay of Isles worked and seal spotting on South Georgia from 1956 to 1957.
