Boom Beach is an MMO - strategy game of the Finnish game developer Supercell for mobile devices ( smartphones , tablets ). The game has been available as an app for Apple's iOS operating system since March 2014 and for the Android operating system since June 2014 .
Business model
Downloading the app and access to the online servers is free (“ free-to-play ”). The game is funded by in-app sales for subscriptions to a second construction worker who can upgrade two buildings at the same time and for immediate troop training. You can also buy “diamonds” that can be used in the game, for example to speed up troop training or the construction and improvement of buildings. Diamonds are available in low frequency but also for free within the game through chests that appear occasionally on the map and through achievements. In general, all game content - unlike the “ freemium ” business model - is completely free of charge if the player invests more time.
Gameplay
Boom Beach is set in an archipelago in which there are small indigenous villages on every island, but they have been occupied by the main opponents, the "Black Guard". Attacks give you various raw materials and you also have a chance to get information with which the task force can start operations. Like Clash of Clans, it is a strategy game in which you can attack bases from other players as well as bases from NPCs . In addition to the Black Guard, which was led by “Lt. Hammermann ”, four times a week a base from“ Dr. T ”and on the other days of the week also an event by an opponent of the Black Guard. In addition, you can join task forces in which you can carry out certain operations against the "Black Guard" with other players, in which the task force must defeat several power bases together.
The raw materials in Boom Beach are gold, wood, stones and iron, which are unlocked in the course of the game, with which you can, for example, build and improve buildings and train troops to attack.
You can also send a submarine on a scouting trip, which brings in resources, or chat with members of your task force.
