Boraras is a genus of the Bärblings (Rasborinae). The name is an anagram of Rasbora . The species of the genus were previously counted to this genus. The relationship is unclear. The small freshwater fish live in Asia and are distributed there from Borneo , Sumatra to Malaysia to Thailand and Cambodia , where they live in large schools in ponds, smaller ponds or even in moats. The fish have no lateral line organ . The number of fin rays in abdominal and pectoral fins is very low. The animals have a very small body size of around 1 to 2.5 cm, which is why they are very popularin so-called nano aquariums .
