Superordinates

The Boreoeutheria are a group within the higher mammals (Eutheria). They were described as taxons in 2001 based on genetic studies and include all higher mammals except the Xenarthra and Afrotheria . They emerged about 110 million years ago together with the Xenarthra as Exafroplacentalia from the group of Eutheria . About 100-105 million years ago, they split into the two mammalian superordinates Euarchontoglires and Laurasiatheria .
