Boris C. Motzki (* 1980 in Worms ) is a German theater - director and dramaturge. From May 2014 to summer 2017 he was the deputy director, acting director and chief dramaturge at the State Theater Eisenach . From the 2018/2019 season, Motzki will be the dramaturge at the Mainz State Theater.

Life

Boris Motzki studied theater studies and German philology at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz ( Magister degree 2006).

Before and during his studies he sat in at the Nibelungen Festival in Worms with Dieter Wedel and in his television film Papa und Mama . In 2003, his volume of poetry Barbara or are dreams come true .

From 2006 to 2009 he worked as a permanent assistant director at the Nationaltheater Mannheim . During this time, the first own productions were created there. a. Pericle der Schwarze , a monologue with Taner Sahintürk , who was invited to the 2009 Kaltstart Festival in Hamburg.

In June 2009 he and Georg Kentrup founded the association favouriteplays e. V., who specifically deals with favorite pieces / projects.

Since 2009 he has mainly worked as a freelance director, u. a. regularly at the Staatstheater Darmstadt (including the Ponzi system ), also at the Landungsbrücken Frankfurt a . v. a.

His productions have been repeatedly invited to festivals such as Kaltstart Hamburg and the Bavarian Theater Days.

He has worked at the Landestheater Eisenach since May 2014. He staged Der Blaue Engel und Tschick here in 2014/2015 , Liebelei and the world premiere of the Village Disco in 2015/2016 and Dangerous Liaisons and the world premiere of Ablass in 2016/2017 .

After a freelance season 2017/2018 in which u. a. Fool for Love at the Landungsbrücken Frankfurt and The Player at the Trier Theater, he will be the dramaturge at the State Theater Mainz from the 2018/2019 season.

At the same time, Motzki also works as a guest lecturer (Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Drama School Mainz, Theater Academy Mannheim, TU Darmstadt) and as an author (Hartmann & Stauffacher Verlag Cologne).

In 2016 he was accepted into the German Academy of Performing Arts .
